First I want to apologize for my absence; I want to keep this blog going stronger than ever. But a terrible recent event has occurred and I want to tell the story. A very good friend of mine who I met through Connor Ranch has died last week. His name was Darren, and he was a struggling alcoholic. We have been good friends for two years, and I always would lend a hand to him in his suffering to addiction. But unfortunately he died in a car crash due to the influence of alcohol. He left Connor Ranch thinking he could make it, but Mike got the best of him and he left on his own. He hated Mike for everything he stood for and could no longer take the abuse he suffered. Darren never went back to any AA meetings, he never sought out alternative treatment centers, but I remained his friend regardless. To the best of my knowledge the total death count at Connor Ranch now stands at 4. Two of which died at his "west house" Mostly of neglect and Mike's uncaring attitude. But here is the worst part; I received a call today from his girlfriend who was pregnant with child. She had given birth to his son 5 days after his death. My friend was my original inspiration for this blog and he helped me draft it out. Although he was an alcoholic, was exceptionally intelligent and wanted to be heard vicariously through me. For those of you reading this please take notice. People are dying at the hands of this fucking asshole, and a son who will never know his father. Who will be Dr. Mike's next victim?
More than ever those of us who have the higher power & the morale strength must put the word out there for those who are weak and preyed upon by this evil man. It's too late for my friend, but you really will be saving someone's life. Maybe even your best friend.
Give yourself a moment of silence for the alcoholic that is still suffering and a prayer for those who are lost forever.

im so glad to see the many comments being posted about mike nielsen. i have worked for this man off & on for several years and many of you of me im sure i worked at his treatment facility where i was the house manager. i worked like a slave and was treated in ways im sure many were witness to but i enjoyed working with others and helping anyone who needed or asked. recently mike has tried to have me arested for burglery and for assault, all of which are false although he has a witness to go along with his false police reports whos name i will mention due to the fact that he set me up to be arrested and he is now the acting manager or whatever he chooses to call himself. him and mike make a pair i must say. the both lie about anything and everything with no regard as to how it effects peoples lives, wastes time with police and their investigations which will if thouroughly investigated they will find out the truth about all of whom are involved. the so called witness is james mitchell a convivted felon who is currently on parolle and will do and go along with anything mike tells him to. mike has forced me and several others thanks to this web site to set the spark to a fire so to speak that im certain will bring mike down to a very serious reality and a much awaited end to his destruction, coruption and everthing he has done to so many for far too long but im certain that there is strength in numbers and that the truth will surface so pleas join me and so many others to bring mike nielsen to justice and put an end to this very sick individuals path.
It's really is a sin to do what I have seen Mike Nielson do. There is a better chance of getting clean on the streets then here. The only thing this place had going for it was a wonderful and caring counseler named Peggy (who I still keep in touch with). Mike fired her though for absolutely no reason. I have seen what he does to his employees and it is evil. They sleep in a room the size of a small closet and truely are treated like dirt. I have personally witnessed him steal clothes from clients and do the unthinkable when it comes to being the director! He acts 100x worse than the people who he is allegedly taking care of. His #1 goal is for you to relapse or make a small mistake (which addicts can do in early recovery)and benefit from it. EVERYTHING on his website is completely untrue. He has a horrible recovery rate and would love to keep it that way. Please stay away from this horrible man and his CONnor ranch "rehab". It is only a matter of time before this man is arrested for what he has been doing or his place is shut down. Connor ranch is mikes own personal domain for forcing himself on women who thought they were finally in a safe place, and to drain the bank accounts of clients parents or the clients themselves. His slogan is "we have supermodels and jacuzzis" there are no supermodels.. and if there are he makes sure that you get kicked out for talking to them (which happened to me) because he wants them to himself, and there is a jacuzzi but he pulls the hot water fuze because he is a cheap bastard. I was at Connor Ranch for 90 days, and I not only witnessed all of what SoberGuy mentioned, but also know of an incident where Mike and one patient told the patient's mom he had relapsed in order to collect a $2,000 "relapse" fee - of which Mike took $1,500 and gave the boy $500 for lying to his parents(!)
Mike slept with 2 of the clients while I was a patient there - one was forced to have an abortion; she could never be fully honest in the meetings due to the nature of her "incident" while at ConHER Ranch and had to pretend she had "Uterine Cancer" just to be able to attempt to share openly. Presently, as far as I know, I am the only client to have left Connor Ranch without a relapse. There was even one day I was left completely alone for several hours at the house with the keys to the medicine room. It is amazing that I was able to sit and pray rather than act on my self-will to get high. This is what NA and my sober network has taught me; Mike was hoping for a relapse, hence the $2,000 re-initiation fee.
His doctor is a nice guy, although you are given MORE drugs when you arrive so it is harder to come off of without a relapse. The medicine and doctor ARE NOT included in your pay for treatment despite Mike's insisting they are before you sign up here. They kept trying to put my on Seroquel, and I do not, nor ever have had, a mood disorder so I refused to take this, thank god. I can list hundreds of things this man has done wrong: from bribing clients who have pending court cases with threats to tell their P.O.'s they have violated in exchange for doing Mike's internet marketing and other around-the-house responsibilities (like digging rocks out of the yard) to sleeping with unstable clients in exchange for Meth (and YES, Mike not only uses meth himself - we found a pipe nonchalantly laying in his car on the way to a meeting!!! but he has a verifyable pharmacy in his house, as he keeps clients' medicines, such as valium and xanax, once they leave).
Call HOW hall! He was kicked out of there for getting in a fight with a man who is a regular at the club. He is also not permitted at the Costa Mesa Alano club for taking pills DURING a meeting in front of the other addicts(!), so he is limited only to Newport Club until they realize this man is a scumbag.
When he shows up at the club, people refer to him and is clients as the "Druggy Buggy" which makes it hard to gain credibility and form a good sober network outside of Mike's facility, since everyone knows that these clients are headed for relapse.
it is a shame, and it is sad. The reason you can use laptops, cells, bring a pet or come as a couple is because Mike will take ANYONE willing to pay the right price. Ever wonder why ALL other treatment facilities DO NOT allow this? Because they interfere with recovery. Period. Do not be fooled. These features sound terrific, but they are NOT conducive to becoming a success. I personally was coerced into a bribery situation, and Mike provided a defective (read: already used) drug test to make my results appear dirty. Knowing I had NEVER used since I got clean, I went to a competitive facility, took a drug test there on the same day, and came up clean for everything. Later Mike made the excuse that his staff "did not know how to read the results correctly" and were "researching on the internet" to see if there could be marijuana in one's system after 60 days(!) THESE ARE SUPPOSED TO BE PROFESSIONALS and they don't know whether pot can stay in your system for months, AND that I in fact, DID come up negative; a faint line means negative, NO LINE AT ALL means positive, and thank god the competitive facility was able to provide me with this information and prove that Mike either doctored the original test or was dishonest about the results - nor would he provide me with a second test, since "it costs too much money" (his words!!! Tests are approximately $10)!
Mike has started rumors about me among his present staff who have never met me, that I have been using meth - a drug which I NEVER touched in my life - because I helped a client to leave Connor Ranch. It is a shame this man has such an impact on helpless people. His right-hand man, Sam, comes across as a knowledgeable businessman, but DON'T BE FOOLED!!!!!!!! This man is just as shady, and has gotten drugs for several clients. He has smoked weed with both clients and other staff ON THE PROPERTY on many occasions. I have not only witnessed this first-hand, but was offered weed from Sam and the client he got it for, K-------- from Canada.
Mike is presently under investigation, as I personally know 3 former clients whose families have initiated these with the appropriate authorities. DO YOUR HOMEWORK and contact the Depts. of Labor, Fair Housing and Alcohol and Drug Admin to learn more.
If you contact HOW hall or Costa Mesa Alano club, you can learn alot more about this fraud Mike. Ask around about Connor Ranch. You can find out the truth simply by asking, or take your chances and check in.
P.S. Dave... that chick wasn't a supermodel, even though she WAS cute for a stripper! Which reminds me that I need to add one piece of VITAL info: Mike warned me to stay away from a male client "because he has AIDS" (and no, he didn't, otherwise he'd be taking a hell of a lot more pills at specific times than he was given - BTW, all meds taken by other clients were an open book, as we all were privy to what everyone else was on); Mike just wanted to scare me away from interacting with guys, and he also made derogatory jokes about my roommate, who was taking Valtrex for Herpes. Confidentiality between client and owner is essential to proper recovery, not to mention that it is a despicable act to break that trust among other patients. Mike is a walking nightmare. Do your homework. Good luck, and I hope your higher power looks out for you as mine has for me under either circumstance.

I am the mother of a former patient of Connor Ranch. All my hopes for my son's recovery were quickly dashed as I was called constantly for additional monies shortly after my son got there. I paid 2 months in advance (wired transferred $ to Mike's account) and thought my son was finally safe and in a place where he could be helped. He, also, was perscribed all kinds of drugs that were habit forming in themselves. His father and I questioned why he would be given drugs that could enhance his present drug problem and were told they were given in a controlled manner and would help him calm down and "want" to participate in recovery. Well after being thrown out once and us paying a "re-entry" fee, my son is worse off than when he entered Conner Ranch. Mike has gotten quite rich off us and we have nothing to show for it. We were also referred to send our son to another facility after he was ejected from Conner. I now find out that this is a facility that "works" along with Mike and splits the profits from desperate parents. I have notified the authorities about Mike Neilsen and Conner Ranch and intend to persue watever action necessary to make him accountable for his actions. I also think the only ane nd decent person that ever worked around Mike is Peggy. God bess her for trying to help our kids!
My heart breaks for all the unsuspecting clients and parents that go to this place. This guy is evil. I went to Connor Ranch and it was probably the most awful experience of my life. I, like the other 7 people that were there, have filed complaints with the state. This jerk almost killed me with all the medication they gave me when I came in. I recently heard about another client who died from an overdose after Mike kicked him out. Mike Nielsen is a scam artist. I was really sick when I got to Connor Ranch, and would have done anything to get better, but this guy tortured me, made fun of me, baited me, and intimidated me in front of other clients. I finally left, and was able to do outpatient at home...I couldn't afford to go to another residential program after giving this place all my money. Spare yourself and your family. Stay away from this place. I was recently talking to some other clients who are initiating a class action lawsuit. I hope they shut this evil man down.

Surf City rehab offers free stay to singer Amy Winehouse
Center willing to give the troubled British performer a rehab package - complete with protection from the paparazzi - valued at $20,000.

HUNTINGTON BEACH - A Surf City-based alcohol and drug rehabilitation center has asked troubled British singer Amy Winehouse and her estranged husband to be their honored guests.
The Shore Break Drug Rehab center specializes in taking care of musicians and couples, which is just what Winehouse and her husband, Blake Civil-Fielder need, said Mike James, the center's founder.
The rehab center is offering her protection from the paparazzi, her own recording studio and treatment home for free. James said the value of the offer is $20,000, he said.
"She probably needs more personalized service," James told the Register. "We are in a good financial situation where we are able to offer her free treatment."
The center, which has not made contact with Winehouse, sent a press release to media sources such as defamer.comto get the word out.
"Recent photos and videos of her show a haggard and malnourished individual,'' the release says. "Shore Break Drug Rehab is worried about her well-being, and doesn't want to see her go the way of so many other young celebrities and musicians like Janis Joplin and Jim Morrison. …
"If Mrs. Winehouse should see this please have her call, we will happy to arrange transportation for her,'' the release said.
The center has not heard from the British singer. Winehouse's publicist could not be reach for comment.
If Winehouse did decide to stay, she would be in a five-bedroom Surf City home with a swimming pool and spa. Counseling sessions are done at an off-site location, also in Huntington Beach.
James said he has helped about 1,000 people in the three years his center has been open. The center encompasses five homes in Orange County. Clients typically stay for about two months, he said.

I entered Connor Ranch June 7th 2009. I had a lot of contact with staff from Connor ranch via telephone. After I paid with a cashiers check from my own account, it was hard for anyone to even communicate with me. I had respect for one of the staff members, it seemed he went out of his way to always listen to me and stick up for me against Mike, he helped me into a sober living home and always helped me with the doctor there. Mitch was a total creep, and a weirdo. Mike was always hitting on me, later on I found out from the doctor he was trying to have her call in scripts under my name and pass them to other clients. This one female client who was a particular pain in the ass was given my pills by old "Dr. Mike" himself. Who knows what the perks were in that situation. I was hesitant when I arrived at Connor ranch but when I paid with my check it was already too late. He made reference to one of his staff members having anal sex with the house director of my sober living which I found totally inappropriate because I respected him. I was promised a trip at the end of the program lets just say instead of a trip I was sexually assaulted instead. I have already written a formal complaint on Mike and Connor Ranch and I pray everyday that he gets shut down he has no business with peoples lives in his hands.
I think I'm going to blow my brains out! I just can't deal with this shit any more. Yeah, THANKS!!! I was about to go to Connor Ranch - as a matter a fact, it seemed to be the last semi-honest place I could find, but one thing kept me away - Mr. Mike, no matter how many tries via email, would never answer my questions - still, it seemed he was offering me a good opportunity. A very needed and necessary one...My only option now is to put myself into a county mental ward - "who else can you trust", but then it means being FILLED with drugs and "reprogrammed"...Is there ANYTHING OR ANYONE out there that is truly "affordable" and honest? Frankly, I believe in even less than nothing now, if that is possible! Connor Ranch is hardly my first, ah, disappointment and I haven't even been there yet!!!

I have one more thing to add to my comment lets just see if doctor mike is so cocky when I take him to court. I have already made the right connections, have the right attorneys to back me up and I am going to go less with sex assault and more on the fact that he calls himself a doctor passing other patients meds without being licensed to do so also commiting insurance fraud and countless other charges. that wasn't my last comment after all I have decided to check myself into s hospital for a medical detox that way when I go into court to testify against Mike it will be with a clear head. When I went into Connor Ranch I was on 12 mg of suboxone when I left I am now taking 16 mg a day I am really scared if anyone want's to email me I'm at kimbarsamian@hotmail.com. I'm so thankful to have run across this blog before my son left Texas (and I paid Dr Mike) for this scam program. We came so close... I ran across this the day before he was to catch a flight to LAX. I can see that it would have been disastrous and I'm looking at this as divine intervention! I think he is at the right place-- a reputable place where he will be treated with respect and get the help he needs at this very critical point in his life. Thank you so much!

Good information...I don't understand why the state has not investigated this situation. I was a patient (aka VACATIONER) there and it was horrible. I will be joing the class action lawsuit.

OMG, my husband is there right now, he arrived there on Thursday, July 22. We've already paid the $7500 and we're from Canada. What should I do? Jeannette is the one who I've been speaking with, does anyone know about her? Is Mike still there. My husband went to Shore Break, but it also looks like the Connor Ranch, are they one and the same?
Heard today from a very reliable source (someone down there right now) that there were 3 overdoses at Mike's so-called Rehab Ranch (pfffft)! This was all over Howe Hall, everyone is talking about it. One died, one's in critical condition and one will be okay. I hope he gets shut down, it could have been my family member. Why doesn't someone do something.

Capt. Mike has not been seen at HOW Hall for quite some time, now.
This blog apparently explains why.
I was not an inmate of his facility, but I had a bad encounter with Capt./Dr. Mike in the parking lot of the Huntington Beach Walmart, one day, in 2008, and reached the conclusion that his HOW Hall persona is probably a lie. I guess I was right.
I wonder if Dr. Mike will be returning to his roots, the Laguna Beach cliffs, now that his gig is up.
I would love to testify and take Mike down. I was here less than a year ago. I was there when he tried to run over soberguy!
I wanna remane anonymous. I worked for Dr. Mike for almost a year. I cooked and cleaned and did odd jobs for him. I was at the midway house when he turned it into a treatment center. It used to be sober living. He is the foulest and rudest person I've ever met and I am a biker. I saw him take girls into the bathroom for sex when they didn't have the money to pay rent. He ran a special through the internet and charged ten thousand a month for treatment instead of the normal thirty thousand. He would set people up to get high then he'd call thier parents and charge the notorious reentry fee. Usually two thousand dollars. I was at the west house when half the house was on heroin and was there when some guy died at the top of the stairs. He turned blue and I asked, "hey, has anyone checked on that guy nodded out at the top of the stairs?" He'd been dead for like an hour and everyone was just stepping over him. That's how bad it is at mike's houses. Mike is not a doctor. He used to be called corvette Mike from Huntington Beach. He was also motorhome Mike because he lived in a trailer tweaking. Then he found Lillian. She is the money backing Mike. He paid me two hundred dollars a week plus I got room and board for taking care of these drug addicts and alcoholics. I lived in the back in a room the size of a closet. And, I was drinking at the time. Mike knew and didn't care. I just couldn't come home drunk. He liked having my harley parked in front of his house. There are three people that I know of that died and one that OD'd and luckily I was there and I brought him back and saved his life. He was totally blue and in cardiac and respitory arrest. He wasn't breathing and had no heartbeat. The fire dept said I saved his life. Poor guy was on parole and had to go to jail though, I believe. Hey Woodroe, I still owe you and am waiting on that big settlement. Should be july or august 2011. I will look you up and pay you 400 i think. There were so many people on heroin at mikes west house that I began using after being drug free for ten years. Leaving mikes houses was the best thing that ever happened to me. these poor people are in the sober living rut. It's hard to crawl out of that and half the sober living homes are corrupt. Stay away from Bruce at So Cal sober living, in Long Beach too. He fucks his girl tenants and takes the weak people's psych meds. Bruce is just as bad as mike. So stay away from conner ranch or he might be calling it surf city rehab (he's constantly changing the name) and stay away from so cal sober living. if you live at one of these places get out before it kills you. It almost killed me.
i posted a comment awhile back I paid just like anyone else to enter mikes house or rehab if thats what you want to call it. I went there on less suboxone then I when I left. Now eight sober livings later I am back on the heroin. Mike left me with six refills just because my insurance covered a very heavy medication, now I have spent all that money trying to get better there. yeah right he was harrassing rude I am a woman so you can just imagine. He was not only giving my suboxone away the last concern of his was seeing me get better. He has changed his name to James Michael and has several websites to lure unsuspecting people who need help. Mike hires people to literally babysit ( only his employees may have little to no time under their belt)
I heard that it was his service who supplied the sober coaching to the now deceased McLeod boy. (Not verified)
He continues to rip people off and seems to be dr death or the Grimm reaper of rehabs.
